See how four inspirational women are fighting back against climate change—and learn how you can help.

As obvious as it sounds, climate change affects everybody. But climate change is already having a disproportionate impact on people in developing countries, and it’s hitting women hardest.

It’s not the easiest idea to understand, so to help explain this, here are short films about women, in both rich and poor countries, who are determined to do whatever they can to put a stop to climate change.

Watch them and become aware of the impact our changing climate is having on people’s lives. And be inspired to join the fight against climate change too.

Global Citizens for Change invites you to hear from returned volunteers and expert speakers working on gender issues, by listening a pan-Canada phone conference. The phone conference provided food for thought, and provides also information about “3 Course Discourse”, a Canada wide initiative designed to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th. This phone conference took place on February 18, 2009.

Context: This call is part of a project called Global Citizens for Change. This project aims to build a constituency of educated, informed and active people who are working to mobilize their communities to inform and enhance Canadian policies to reduce global poverty and to strengthen Canada’s leadership role in fostering sustainable development globally. Overall our philosophy with these calls is to paint an honest picture of the global situation as it pertains to a specific issue, and ensure that we create a sense of empowerment so people feel that there is room for them to be engaged, and take action.

Format:
25min - Key Note Speakers
20 min - Question Period
10 min - Introduction to “3 Course Discourse” initiative
10 min – Open floor to other action ideas, and questions
