I have visited/volunteered at the Racecourse Community School for orphans and vulnerable children in Kitwe in '04, '06, and '09 - I run a fundraising initiative for this school and have done research on community schools in Zambia.
I have an MA in IDS and a background in History and Sociology. I have volunteered extensively with Engineers Without Borders Canada. I am also the Project Manager for the Racecourse Community School Fundraising Initiative. I am passionate about community development in Canada and abroad and am particularly interested in analyzing the role of Westerners in 'development'.
